Zephyrhills is home to "Skydive City, " one of the best known parachuting centers not only the U.S., but the world. Visitors from all over come to enjoy the thrill of parachuting.

The facility is located in Zephyrhills, Fl. They have more than 14 acres of property to be used for free camping. They also have an RV park with temporary electric hook-ups.Other on site facilities include a cafe, called the "Hard Dock Cafe", a Sunshine Factory Pro Shop, a Sunset Bar, laundry, and a hot showers.They also offer a fire pit.

skydive City offers everything you can imagine as far as parachuting goes. One of the usual feats that beginners want to try, is the Tandem Jump. Tandem jumping began in the 80's, and is known to be the easiest way for beginners to attempt their first "jump". In Tandem Jumping, you are harnessed to another person. You will receive about 20 minutes training, after which you can ascend to 13500' in a turbine aircraft. While harnessed, you will jump with your partner, accelerating to 120 miles per hour, then free-falling for about 60 seconds. You will be assisted in opening your chute at about 5, 000 feet, and you will also assist in steering the parachute. The ride will last from four to six minutes. It's a good way to get practice, and makes for a great video. A tandem jump, including the training, aircraft ride, jump and video dubbing, will last about a half day.The price for a Tandem Jump package with a professional video, is around $294. You can do the jump without a video for $199. They also offer group discounts, and military discounts, as long as you have a valid ID.

For the more experienced , they have a calender of events as follows: July 3rd, 4th and 5th, they will be having a BBQ and fireworks. Night Jumps will be on Saturday, the 4th, right before the fireworks start. On August 15th, they are having the Florida skydiving League competition, where parachutist's from all over Florida, gather to compete in a four way jump. For those like myself, who have no wish to to jump out of an airplane, (smile), it's always fun to watch the braver souls as they glide down.
