A Day At The Treehouse Museum In Ogden, Utah

Ogden, UT84401
United States of America Many people enjoy skiing as a family activity and make special winter trips to locations within the United States to ski great slopes. If you're one of these families, and you plan to travel to the plentiful ski resorts in and around Ogden, Utah, take an afternoon off and visit the Treehouse Children's Museum in Downtown Ogden.

Located off Grant Avenue and 22nd Street, the Treehouse is a great place for locals and tourists to spend a few hours playing indoors. It has ample off-street and on-street parking and is just across the street from the Ogden LDS Temple on one side and the new 23rd Street revitalization (which includes indoor sky diving, an indoor surfing pool, Fat cats arcade and bowling, too many restaurants to list, a large movie theater, and more).

The museum covers three floors of fun learning activities. They have seasonal exhibits as well as every day staples, such as the (plastic) Wild West cowboy ponies that your child can dress up and ride - a great photo opportunity! There is an interactive map of the state of Utah in another area, showing the Counties and pictures of things you can find in each county. There are also small rooms that are decorated in the traditional styles of different countries, including Germany and China, with information inside each house relating to the culture of that country. A fan-favorite is the traditional teepee next to a painted stream with a real wooden cross bridge. These things give children the opportunity to step into a story!

The staff here have mastered the ability to help children learn while they're having fun through various activities, including their weekly programs such as Toddler Time, ParticiPlayHouse on Saturday afternoons, Theater Thursdays, and RAMPed up Art.

Ogden, UT84401
United States of America Toddler Time is a reading-readiness program designed to help young visitors reinforce prereading skills by signing songs, making crafts, and telling stories.

ParticiPlayHouse involves a Treehouse staff member choosing members from the audience to act out different roles in a play. The staff member gives the children clothing to put on over their street clothes, then narrates a story while the children follow the directions for their character that are included in the narration.

Theater Thursdays are a companion to the ParticiPlayHouse and is a drop-in workshop where students are given hands-on instruction in the finer points of acting. This is perfect for the drama queen or king in your family!

The RAMPed Up Art program offers a variety of different art projects every week using paint, clay, cut-and-paste paper, and more. Staff members are available to help walk children through activities such as making a paper crown or using cut pieces of yarn to create a picture.

The Treehouse also has other activities, such as a theater troupe that puts on a few evening plays a year and an annual Fairy Tale Ball. In October the Enchanted Woods opens inside the Treehouse, which is filled with famous characters from Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales who tell their stories and give your children treats. Tickets for these programs must be purchased in advance, but are very reasonably priced and well worth it!

For locals, the Treehouse is a great place to hold your child's birthday party. The prices for this are very reasonable and you get a dedicated staff member to help things run smoothly. Your child's friends will have a great time playing in the Treehouse before eating cake and ice cream in their own party room. You have to reserve the party rooms in advance, but again the prices are reasonable and the experience is well worth it.
